A Sustainable, Inclusive, and Connected Community
Northland has been a patient and thoughtful steward of the Northland Newton Development (NND) for nearly 50 years. The development redefines what it means to build community. Spanning 23 acres at the corner of Needham and Oak Streets, NND is a national model for sustainable urban planning—combining affordable housing, historic preservation, and public amenities. Currently under construction, the project will deliver 822 passive house certified rental homes, including 145 affordable units, along with 96,000 square feet of vibrant retail space and restaurants.
This thoughtfully integrated neighborhood will feature nine distinctively designed condominium-quality residential buildings, including an exquisitely preserved mill with loft-style apartments, ground-floor retail spaces with expanded sidewalks activated with outdoor restaurant spaces and seating, over 12 acres of open space for recreation, including a central “Village Green” for gathering and events, and a community splash park and playground connected to the Upper Falls Greenway.
