Our Vision
Originally, as the developer of Marshall’s Plaza in 1978, Northland has spent two generations thoughtfully assembling the critical mass needed to create a sustainable, wellness-focused, and connected 21st-century neighborhood in the vibrant Newton gateway. Northland Newton Development (NND) will transform 23 acres of outdated retail and industrial space into a model of urban planning and sustainability. This fully integrated mixed-use development combines nearly 50 years of planning with green initiatives, including Passive House certified buildings, solar ready roofs, Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) construction, and LEED certifications, setting a new standard for residential development in the Boston metro area.
Activated Streetscapes
Engaging and welcoming storefronts and indoor/outdoor restaurants mixed with acres of green spaces and recreational opportunities.
Mobility and Transit
Transit shuttle service providing last mile connection to the MBTA Green Line, bike share, pedestrian connections to nearby grocery stores.
Inspired Design
Committed to preserving the Saco-Pettee Historic District, the project integrates architectural styles that complement the Saco-Pettee Mill’s rich historic character.
Environmental Care
Environmental focus through sustainable planning, design, and construction principles in all phases of the development. The project has achieved LEED for Neighborhood Development certification. All residential buildings will achieve both Passive House and LEED certifications.
Connected Neighborhood
Seamlessly integrates residential and retail uses, animating the corridor with daytime and evening activity and fostering a strong sense of community for the area.
Community Engagement
50 Years of assemblage and the product of over 10 years of thoughtful planning and active community engagement.
